Sheikh Mujibur Rahman - The Architect Of An Independent Bangladesh



Every country has a national hero and architecture. The father of the state Bangabandhu sheikh Mujibur Rahman (1920-1975) is the creator of the independent People's Republic of Bangladesh.

Early life and educational history

Bangabandhu was born on seventeen March 1920 within the village Tungipara under the gopalganj Sub-division (currently district) within the district of Faridpur. His father is Lutfar Rahman, He was an employee within the civil court of Gopalganj. sheikh Mujibur Rahman passed SSC (matric) from Gopalganj Missionary school in 1942, IA (Twelfth Grade) from the popular college of Kolkata. This college name is Islamia College, Kolkata, Passing year in 1944 and BA from the same college in 1947.

After partition (1947), he got himself admitted into the University of Dhaka to study law however was unable to finish it, because, he was expelled from the University in early 1949 on the charge of "inciting the fourth-class employees" in their agitation against the University's indifference towards their legitimate demands.

Political life and activities

From the very beginning of his political life is so colorful, In 1946, he was elected general secretary of the Islamia College Students Union. He was AN activist of the Bengal Provincial Muslim League and a member of the All-India Muslim League Council from 1943 ahead.

Sheikh Mujibur Rahman entered parliamentary politics as a parliament member initial in 1954 through his election as a member of the East Bengal general assembly on the United Front ticket. He was conjointly a member of the West Pakistan Second Constituent Assembly-cum-Legislature (1955-1958).

The ‘Bangladesh Liberation War’ followed and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan had to surrender to Bangladesh-India Allied Forces.

Mujib was free on Jan eight, 1972, following that he met Edward Heath, the then British Prime Minister in London, addressed  international media, visited Republic of India to meet Indian President Varahagiri Venkata Giri and Prime Minister Indira Nehru Gandhi and different cabinet members and so came back to capital of Bangladesh wherever he received a heartwarming welcome.

Gradually the state recovered with Mujib taking part in an outstanding role however the fateful famine of 1974 in Bangladesh, as well as different national problems, infused dissent against his government. Mujib and most of his members of the family were dead on august 15, 1975 during a military coup initiated by treacherous army men and rebellious members of the ‘Awami League’. Daughters of Mujib but on the loose the murder plot as they were in the Federal Republic of Germany.

Personal Life and marital status

In 1938 he married Muhammedan Fazilatunnesa. The couple had 3 sons - sheikh Kamal, sheikh Jamal, and sheikh Russel and 2 daughters -elder daughter name is sheikh Hasina wazed and little daughter's name is sheikh Rehana. His father's name is Sheikh Lutfor Rahman. His Mother's name is  Sayera Khatun.
